The Difference Between Success and Failure on the Internet
I have read many, many success stories on the Internet. There seem to be huge numbers of people that make big money on the Internet. The truth of the matter is that there are far more failures at Internet money making than there are winners! We only seem to hear about those that went from nothing to vast wealth…and one begins to wonder how many of these stories are the truth!
And, of those “winners” who make fortunes online, how many have sold their souls for the almighty dollar? How many are ripping people off outright, or are providing “products” that are much less than advertised? Personally, I would rather make money honestly than “sell my soul” and not be able to sleep at night.
There are more ways to fail – in both life and online – than there are to succeed. Millions upon millions get online to seek their fortune, as if current times were the California Gold Rush days of the old west. For these “newbies” the waters of the vast worldwide web have too many sharks lurking, circling, and ripping apart their prey. Actually, one does not need to be a newbie to have a shark bite them! Anyone can spend countless dollars and hours seeking the right venue to make significant money online.
Indeed, making money online is a huge challenge! Some are lucky. Some are like the luckiest of the gold-diggers and strike it rich on their first try. These people are very few and far between. The fact of the matter is that it can take as many as 3 or more years to start with little or no knowledge, and learn all you need to know to build a successful online business.
There are so many questions to answer when one desires a successful online business. Do I need a website? Can I build it myself? Can I do it all for free? How do I drive traffic to my website? Do I need my own product or service? What is a list and how do I build one? How do I advertise and market my new business effectively? What types of advertising work best? What is PPC? Are there ways to market my business that cost nothing? What are the best no-cost ways to promote my business? What are the most common pitfalls? Where are the best places to spend my money to build my business? Who can I trust? Which are the best sites on the web to help me grow my business? What warning signs do I need to look out for when I get emails and offers? What is a JV? How can I get others to help me? And these are only a small sampling of the thousands of questions to which one will need honest answers!
I spent a full three years asking questions like these and collecting the answers. In the process I nearly lost my home and everything I own. I would tell my story, but most of us have heard this same story so many times. Let’s just say that the learning curve for making honest money online is a very steep climb, especially if I want to sleep at night knowing I am doing it without hurting or ripping anyone off!
The difference between success and failure on the Internet (as in all business) is attitude, consistent action, finding the right combination of resources, building a feasible plan, and a relentless drive to succeed. That is it, in a nutshell.
